Your inventory is full, your gear needs repairs, and you've just realised the last Helltide gave you nowhere near enough Living Steel for the Duriel session you planned. That's the familiar Season 14 grind. Where Most Runs Go Sideways
On paper, the loop is clean. Gather Living Steel, defeat Grigoire, take Shards of Agony, then move toward Duriel. In practice, players push a Torment tier that turns every lightning phase into a long cleanup job. They burn potions, lose time to deaths, and leave with fewer kills than a lower tier would have delivered. Grigoire isn't especially complicated once your damage is ready, your resistances are capped, and you can survive his lightning pressure.
Pick the Torment level where the fight stays fast and repeatable. Don't chase a larger reward if each attempt drags on. Keep moving during the lightning attacks, save your heavy damage for safe openings, and return only after you've got a stack of Living Steel. Fair enough if you want a harder fight-but it should pay for the extra minutes.
Two Bosses, One Real Goal
Don't mix up the materials. Grigoire drops Shards of Agony. Echo of Varshan supplies Mucus-Slick Eggs. Duriel-related access needs both, so split your playtime with intent: Helltides for Steel, Whispers for Varshan summon parts, then batch both boss encounters. Seasonal activities, Nightmare Dungeons, and the Undercity still have a place when they offer gear, experience, gold, or rewards your character needs. Check current tooltips and seasonal reward tracks after patches, since sources and quantities can shift.
Save Materials For A Real Session
Should you spend every Shard the moment it drops? No. Hold enough for a proper Duriel run after your skill tree, Paragon board, weapons, armour, and masterworking are in shape.
